Happy New Moon to you this Sagittarius Season. The moon goes dark at 11:20 PT tonight, and thank goodness mercury turns today!

I'm writing this 3rd edition of the MamaMuseletter in the Wise Woman stage of my menstrual cycle, the pre-menstruation phase. What's that mean for you? It means I'm channelling some deep ancient wisdom and putting it out there for you to marinate. You might be thinking, what on earth is she talking about?  It's okay, I am used to that. For now...read on soul sister.

We're going to dive right in to discuss something I am super passion about: YOUR POWER.  And where does that power cultivate? Well, my love, she comes straight from your sacred lady zone, your very own womb space.  So hold on tight and read on as we go deep into some powerful yet undeniably woo-woo self-care practices. I'm also going there with the real meaning of being a Virgin, and how you can create much needed boundaries to take back your December and reclaim the season's magic.

Drumroll....I mean...[Tibetan] singing bowl.....please!

Being a Virgin - It's not what you may think

What do Mother Mary and Egyptian goddess Isis have in common? Well, a lot actually. There is fascinating research on the similarities between the Mother of Jesus and the mythical Goddess. But for now, let's zero in on one thing...they were both VIRGINS. It's hard to say the word "virgin" aloud without immediately feeling by body curl up and an insecure tone come from my speech. That's because of what our society has done over the last few thousand years to take the power away from this word make it all things uncomfortable.

But did you know that the Greek origin of "Virgin" refers to a woman who is independent and of child-bearing age.

What matters most is that to be a virgin is to be completely unto oneself. That's right. A virgin is a badass bitch who doesn't give a hoot what anyone thinks. She marches to the beat of her own drum, can take care of herself, and is fully empowered in her mind, her body, and her spirit.

This gives me a whole new life goal...to be born-again virgin! Hey - I want a piece of what Isis and dear MM had - undeniable connection to spirit, confidence, compassion, motherhood with grace, truth, and full-on SHE power sensuality. Yes, please. Gimme some of that.

Okay, so now that we all want to reclaim our virginity - Let's explore some a slightly uncomfortable way to get more of what our mythical and biblical amigas had from above. You'll thank me later.

The Yoni Steam

Last month I posted to my ista-stories with a picture of a steaming bowl of rose hips in my toilet bowl. One of my followers was trying to figure out why I'd be drinking tea from a toilet. LOL. Whoops. Let me clarify:

My lady zone was drinking that tea in the toilet with a relaxing and super healing Yoni Steam.

First, Ketaki, let me ask you, Are YOU familiar with the sanskrit word 'yoni'?  Yoni refers to the womb and all correlating female genitalia and reproductive organs. It's a much more powerful word than vagina which is defined a "muscular tube leading from the genitals to the cervix)...although if you like that word be my guest and use it pride! I digress... Let's get back to the Yoni Steam.

Yoni steams are healing self-care practices that facilitate physical healing for all things lady zone(PMS, Post Birth Control Syndrome, PCOS, endometriosis, fertility issues, irregular cycles, ovarian cysts, pre-menopause...the list goes on.)

Emotionally and Spiritually, the Yoni Steam can help heal feelings of shame or guilt associated with sex and sensuality, any "down there" trauma, and can directly connect you to your POWER to manifest and create with the divine.BOOM. Are you down to try it?

Before I list out the step by step guide for steaming your va-jay-jay, please refrain from this practice if you have an IUD, are on your period, pregnant, or immediately postpartum (including belly births).

Step-by Step Yoni Steaming

1. Simmer a large pot of water with desired mixture of herbs for approx. 10 minutes
(Author Lisa Lister recommends Yarrow herb, Marigold, Rose petals, Raspberry Leaf or Sweet Violet)

2. Pour the hot water into a ceramic or stainless steel bowl that fits oh-so-snuggly into your toilet bowl.
(You can also purchase a yoni steaming kit or yoni sauna...but this toilet method works just the same)

3. GO PEE before you put that bowl in the toilet. Trust me, this process is seriously relaxing and if you don't empty your bladder first, you'll be holding it on for 20 minutes (against the point).

4. Place the tea bowl in the toilet and allow the water to cool slightly as your set the mood

4. Grab a large blanket to drape around your body from the waist down to the floor

5. Sit your naked booty down onto the toilet seat (if it's too hot, wait a few more minutes).

6. Drape the blanket and secure any air gaps...this will help your session last longer.

7. Sit and simmer for at least 20 minutes

8. After the steam, continue self-care by taking a nice ritual bath, resting, journaling or meditating

I do hope you give the Steam a try...it seriously feels amazing.

But if you're still on the fence, or aren't able to do to IUDS or pregnancies, etc. and want a softer way to access your womb center...try some womb breathing.

WOMB BREATHING MEDITATION

Sit on a meditation cushion or lie down comfortably. Place your hands in a heart shape over your womb space (between the navel and pubic bone). Connect thumb and pointer fingers to enclose the energy of the womb space.

Take a deep breath, inhaling bright light through the crown of your head and down into the womb. Envision this light penetrating your ovaries, your uterus, your birth canal, your vagina. Continue to breathe into this space, bringing energy to the yoni. Notice the beating of your heart connecting to your pelvis.

Feel the energy of your hands giving warmth to your womb. Envision circles of energy spinning around the pelvis, getting wider and wider with each breath.

When you feel connected to the womb, ask Her how she is doing. Ask her what she wants. Feel into her - and continue to breathe into the space.

This is gentle way to connect the energy of the womb to the physical parts of your body. It is literally the place in our body where we create, not only humans, but ideas, abundance, pleasure, joy.

Practice this daily for just a few minutes, and set aside extra time during the new moon and your own menstrual cycle to tune into her wisdom and let it guide you.

Now that you're lady space is taken care of, let's talk Holiday Boundaries.
I know I can't be the only one who gets overwhelmed and bombarded by the jam-packed weekends, weeknight commitments, school festivities, work dinners, and playing Santa to say the least. It can really rob from the joy of the season. Do you find yourself agreeing to do way more than you really want to? I used to do that, too.

But what if I told you that setting boundaries is perhaps the number one thing you can do for self-care. When you decide to put joy and energy before anything else, that takes us back to reclaiming our Virgin-self. Do you really have to go to a cookie decorating party, or make a pinterest worthy craft with your kids? No.

Do you need to go to the Holiday parade? No.

Do you need to make a Gingerbread House? No.
(But if you do, save some time and get the $7.99 kit from Trader Joe's)

Do you need to go to every single gathering you're invited to? No.

Do you need to take your kids to the birthday party the week before Christmas? No.

Do you need to wrap your presents like they came from Bloomingdales? Hell no.

Do you need to send out a Holiday Card? Nope.

Do you need instagram worthy pictures of your kids opening presents, and you looking fabulous in matching Hanna Anderson PJ's on Christmas morning? Again, no.

This new moon, set an intention on what you want the next few weeks to look like and feel like for YOU and YOUR FAMILY. What are some important rituals and traditions you don't want to miss? What can you do without? What social gatherings would fulfill your desire for connection, and which would leave you feeling without? Tune into this and honor your energy, priorities, and boundaries this season.

As we wrap up this 3rd edition of the MamaMuseletter, I want to thank you all for being a part of the MamaManifest circle.
